Artist David Cotterrell talks to curator Carolina Lio about his practice and the Empathy & Risk project's beginning. Recorded via Zoom during the first period of the COVID-19 pandemic in May 2020, the interview focuses on the contradictions and polarisations that develop in situations of common trauma, such as a sanitary emergency, wars, social crisis, and political unbalance. Commenting on his past projects, David reflects on how art practices can create safe spaces for diverse, underrepresented perspectives, advocate for human rights, and impact global policies.
