Visible Storytelling: Memorial for Migration by Ulf Aminde

Watch online the new video from Visible YouTube Channel: Ulf Aminde in conversation with Carolina Lio about the augmented reality Memorial for Migration in Cologne.

In 2004, a group of far-right extremists was responsible for a dramatic nail bomb attack on the Turkish community of Keupstraße in Cologne, Germany. In 2016, collaborating with local groups, Ulf Aminde developed an idea for an augmented reality Memorial for Migration located at the entrance of Keupstraße. Standing at the location of the terror attack, virtual walls will become visible on a smartphone. The walls are composed of videos interviewing residents on their concrete and personal experiences of racism. They can be downloaded or viewed on the site.

Ulf Aminde, in conversation with Visible curator Carolina Lio, talks about the current stage of the memorial, migrant knowledge, and virtual activism.

Visible Storytelling is a project by Visible (Cittadellarte - Fondazione Pistoletto and Fondazione Zegna) curated by Carolina Lio. It aims to narrate some of the stories behind the projects in the Visible Archive, a platform that researches, produces and connects long-term socially engaged art projects, working with artists dealing with the urgencies of our times.

Visible Storytelling's videos are produced by Looking Forward. Looking Forward also curated the social media campaign associated with the project on Visible Instagram.
