Visible Storytelling: The Silent University by Ahmet Ogut
We released for Visible the video of the conversation between artist Ahmet Ogut and Visible curator Matteo Lucchetti about the pioneering project on education and social justice, The Silent University.
Ahmet Ögüt is in conversation with Visible curator Matteo Lucchetti on the Silent University, project winner of the Visible Award 2013. Since 2012, Silent University has involved those who have had a professional life and academic training in their home countries but are unable to use their skills or professional training due to a variety of reasons related to their status.
Working together, the participants developed lectures, discussions, events, resource archives, and publications. The Silent University started in London in collaboration with Delfina Foundation and Tate and was later hosted by The Showroom. In 2013, the Silent University established in Sweden in collaboration with Tensta Konsthall and ABF Stockholm. Besides London and Stockholm, branches of the Silent University have been activated in Amman, Athens, Hamburg, and Mülheim/Ruhr.
Visible Storytelling is a project by Visible (Cittadellarte - Fondazione Pistoletto and Fondazione Zegna) curated by Carolina Lio. It aims to narrate some of the stories behind the projects in the Visible Archive, a platform that researches, produces and connects long-term socially engaged art projects, working with artists dealing with the urgencies of our times.
Visible Storytelling's videos are produced by Looking Forward. Looking Forward also curated the social media campaign associated with the project on Visible Instagram.
